Themes for taskbar?

G'day guys,

I've just converted to windows 7 but the taskbar annoys me. It doesn't look as nice as the Vista taskbar and when you select a window it highlights it in bright white which stands out against the black I use.

Is there any way to get a theme at this stage to turn the 7 taskbar into something that looks like Vista or Xp? Cheers

Right click the start button and hit properties->Go to "Taskbar"->check the box for small icons and choose from the drop down list beside Taskbar Buttons "Never Combine"

It will look quite a bit like the old Vista bar

I just applied my steps but the white box remains...

Looks like a seperate them will be needed

it's a bit early for much heavy desktop skinning in windows 7, i'd say wait until november and check out WinCustomize: Your home for Windows 7 themes, Vista themes, and XP themes, skins, wallpapers, dreamscenes, icons and everything you need to customize your pc. and deviantART: where ART meets application!

All the themes that deal with the taskbar are the other way around right now...I could hang myself with all the listings for "Turn your Vista Taskbar into the Windows 7 Superbar!"

it shouldnt be a hard fix really, if you could find the overlay icon that causes the frosted white look it could easily be edited in photoshop then reapplied.

I have no ability in that area...

If we could find the resource image than a member of the GFX Team could do it easily...unless you can valtonray

i dont have photoshop otherwise it wouldnt be a problem for me to do it, my sister is a graphic designer though so i could send it off to her and have it done in no time. that is if i had the icon. maybe asking if anyone knows where it can be found or doing a google search for it. if you find it just pm me and i'll get it taken care of.

I wouldn't mind having a crack at it myself (I'm alright at image editing) but I have no idea where to start in regards to finding the file that I'd need to edit

Yeah, the problem isn't icons combining, it's just the white overlay really contasts against the taskbar and annoys me a bit
