These files say I dont have permission to delete them?

Hmmmm!
Is this thread saying that "Take Ownership" isn't working to give permission to delete those files?

Works for me!

Doc

I already installed the take ownership option, but it still doesnt delete & gives me permission errors.

This is really frustrating.

One other thing to check in the special permissions - check that there is not a general deny permission on the Delete option, which will override all others

As for what the files are I think they are MSE update files that have not been properly deleted

^^MSSE identified a Trojan after the install. When checked the details, it says the file is ebay shortcuts.exe. Removed it. But still, right click context menu misses the unlocker option.

You should have unchecked that box during installation.

When installing anything pat attention to what it;s trying yo install along with the program itself.

How many installs have you seen that want you to download the Google toolbar.'

Look at post #13 , it is no virus

I am not complaining..but passing on a information. Juz tried the version of unlocker u have suggested to check if it works on my RC. But it didnt.
Anyways, I do not need this, since I use lockhunter. It serves my purpose.

Note: I unchecked the option to install eBay.

I'd have to say that those weird folders are System Folders, created by Windows.
Just leave them where they are.
If you're trying to gain some HD space there are tons of other (junk) files that you can eliminate.

But as we've talked about extensively on this forum, if you want full control over your files and folders you must "Take Ownership" of them.
Once you are the Owner of a file or folder, you can pretty much do whatever you want with it. (copy it, rename it, move it or Delete it) If it's a system file, just leave it alone. ;)

We've posted the download link to the "Take Ownership" program (script) several times.
Nowadays, whenever I set up a Vista or Win-7 PC, I just go ahead and install "Take Ownership" and then I take ownership of all my main folders, like Program Files and Windows.

When you run the "Take Ownership" script on your PC, it puts the 'Take Ownership' option in your right click context menu. So you can find any file or folder with Windows Explorer, right click on it, then left click on "Take Ownership" and you've just become the OWNER of that file or folder.

Good luck and Happy Holidays!

These are a bunch of junk files on my media HDD that I want removed. They shouldnt be there.

And as I already mentioned before, I've downloaded & installed the "Take Ownership" option, yet when I take ownership & then right click & try to delete it still tells me I dont have permission.

And the "Unlocker" feature for right clicking wouldnt install.

So any other ideas?

What was tyhe error message when you tried to install unlocker.

Did you try running as Administrator?

Unlocker never got past MSE when it was turned on. It seemed to install, yet wouldnt be there when I right clicked a file.

Then I was told to turn MSE off & install unlocker, which I did. Unlocker was still not there when I right clicked and as soon as I turned MSE back on it went off and removed the file again.

And yes, as far as I know I have everything setup as admin. I just cant believe its this hard to delete 3 BS files from my media HDD.

OK assuming these files are the ones in your s:documents folder as posted in the screenshots posted in your other thread

http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/44631-i-need-access-all-folders-yet-some-denied.html

From the data on the screenshots these files are still owned by the administrator from a previous Operating System install.

As it would appear that the permissions on this folder are rather confused I would advise that you enable the hidden administrator account

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/507-built-administrator-account-enable-disable.html

Once this is done log in as the hidden administrator take ownership of the folder - as the administrator not any other user or group.

once you have ownership remove all existing permissions from the folder and allow this to cascade down to the files.

Once you have cleared all existing permissions give the administrator, the administrators (group - Note s on name), and your own username - full control

This will return control to you :D

Ok must learn to type faster :D
