Things that annoy me about Windows 7

As much as I like Windows 7 I wish Microsoft kept certain things and not changed them. After spending so much time with Windows 7 for over a year now I feel like I should post a few things that annoy me :

- You can't customize the control panel icons size : You can choose between 3 options and that annoys me.

- I despise the library feature maybe I don't understand it but I wish there was a way to turn it off and go back to using the Vista file system. KISS (Keep it simple silly) :p

- There's no way to turn off the Windows Aero Thumbnail icons. You know when you hover over an open program you see a little thumbnail preview of the program. In vista it was simple If you wanted to turn it off. All you had to do was right click properties on the taskbar and uncheck show windows previews (thumbnails). Why the fauck did MS remove that ?

- Aero looked cleaner in Vista

- I don't like the "Personalize" function in Win 7. I prefer Vista and XP way of personalizing the system.

- I don't like the icons all that well in the "personal" folder. I prefer the vista style icons.

And for some reason whenever I change my icons to certain sizes they seems to revert back to the default size. :(

Guys you'll hate me for this but I think I'm going back to Vista. When I bought my laptop it came preinstalled with 7 on it. But call me crazy I'm thinking of buying a copy of Vista on ebay.

On the plus side though the performance has improved over Vista but I dunno, as the old saying : "Why mess with something that ain't broken" ?

MS should have stuck with what was good.

That's all :p

I'm hungry I ordered Pizza.

Everything that you said you can't change is well wrong. All of the features you say you cant turn off you can. Most can be found by following this:

Go to "My Computer" then to "System Properties" then to "Advanced System Settings" (On Left) then to "Advanced" (On Top) then to "Proformance Settings"

The scalling is for people who run high resolutions such as a tv. If you don't like the size change the resolution to something diffrent.

The fiie system can be changed to any way the user wants. Take about 5 min to do so.

The libaries can be cusimized to whatever you want there.

Also why would you buy Vista? You have a copy of Windows 7 and you can just call microsoft and say I wish to use my right to downgrade my copy of Windows 7 to Vista. After that they will give you a Vista key. Then when you decide to do back you just need to call microsoft back and save I wish to use my right to upgrade back to Windows 7. Also Windows 7 is built on Vista coding so they are the samething. Windows 7 is a face lift with a beter use of memory and the cpu(s).

In the end you do not have the computer skills to make such claims. Please look into you issues before you say that you dislike something. Like I always say to my co-workers "DO YOUR RESURCH AND NOTHING WILL EVER GO WRONG AND YOU WILL ALWAYS END UP FINDING THE THING THAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR."

well guys I decided that I'm sticking with 7 it's too much of a hassle to go back to vista. Besides I've got all my programs and games and whatnot on now. I don't particularly feel like it. Now that I'm customizing 7 more I think it's growing on me.

Well, you can change all of those things, it just takes a little more effort! :)

I like pizza too, but I usually make my own, because no matter what I tell the people at the shop, they just don't make pizza EXACTLY as I like it........ :)

View by 'category' - "small' or "large'.

That has irked me since day one. It still irks me.

Others may, but I won't - It's your PC and your personal preference is more important than others 'internet preferences'.

Vista is still a fine OS.

Well tbh, it kind of was. That's why Seven is what it is. It was built on good foundations.

I used to be only one in my area that liked Vista and never had a problem with it, but I dumped it 3 days after trying the 7 Beta.

But I'm pleased that you're getting to like 7, Give yourself some time, and you eventually kick yourself for even considering going back to Vista.

If you're looking for a great resource for learning, you may want to have a look at the tutorials section here at the forums.

EDIT: I'll have extra chillies and cheese and garlic on my pizza

i really don't know why anyone would want to go back to vista, or xp for that matter. xp and vista were the reason i got rid of my last windows based laptop and get an older apple powerbook that is now my desktop since the batteries if they are still available cost almost as much as my new compaq cq56 notebook running windows 7 home premium. so far windows 7 seems just as good as os x, never thought i'd say that about a microsoft product after xp and vista.
