I solved that problem by not using browsing history. I don't save it or use it.

also i hate when titles or more important things are not written with a capital at the start of every word, it just bugs me (check out my signature for an example)

Someone calls you to diagnose their machine and you explain to them the steps needed to fix it and they don't seem to be following the instructions so you say "just bring the computer to me".

On top of that, when you explain things they get irate with you if they aren't understanding it. Or, you direct them to a tutorial that fixes the problem, but they want you to hand-hold them through it (meaning YOU do all the work and they sit back relaxing). It's a free forum where people volunteer their time, without any pay. Some people take on the attitude like you work for Microsoft and you've got to fix their problem for them ASAP. Those people I used to try reasoning with, but now I just walk away.

My screen is making me mad.

When I re-installed my Windows Vista Home Premium 32 BIT, my screen moved out of center. It now sits about 3 to 4 inches to the right. So when any window is maximized, I can't access the close button and I need to center my windows manually to access the entire page.

Speaking as one of those people you are putting down, did it ever occur to you that maybe things you think are basic or common knowledge isn't to them? As good as the tutorials are here, there have been times I've given up because I couldn't get past the first paragraph because the writer assumed I already knew how to perform a step and just said to do it. Same on these and other forums. I've asked for simple, easy to understand steps and people trying to help assume I know and/or understand things I actually do not, then get mad at ME when I point that out. I appreciate their attempts but it's extremely frustrating when they, like you have demonstrated here, do not understand that hand-holding sometimes IS necessary. Example: you complained about people not filling in system specs. did ever occur to you that they may not know how? Just because it's simple for you doesn't mean it's simple for everyone. Understanding computers may be easy for you but that doesn't mean it is for everyone. And it's not always a matter of being lazy, as you obliquely suggested.

In my case, I have ADHD. It's impossible for me to assimilate too much information at one time, which is why I often need SIMPLE, step by step directions, uncouched with undefined technical terms. Getting that across to people is frequently difficult to impossible and is extremely frustrating.

I can understand someone having issues with it and needing some hand holding... but the key thing I'm complaining about is the attitude of the person seeking help, as though they are entitled to have your full attention and are impatient if a comprehensive answer isn't promptly forthcoming. They want you to explain each and every step of the tutorial, to the point where you'd end up rewriting it yourself (I've seen stuff like this happen). A lot of this rests on the way in which people ask for assistance. Typing text strips away all of the subtleties in communication that are proffered by voice and visual contact. So, it's easy to misconstrue intention. Some people don't get that and interpret what you say in a manner that may be quite different than what you intend, often colored by their emotional state. I've seen some people go way off the handle, taking something said by another person as sarcasm when it wasn't meant as that. It's the nature of the venue, and people have to realize it by not taking things for granted.

But... if someone is mostly novice in their understanding and using of computers, owning a Windows computer is not recommended. That's the audience Apple spent a huge amount of time catering to. The operating system is very gentle and helpful, but a bit restrictive up front for those who are more technically minded (you have to go behind the scenes and bend things in order to manipulate the underpinnings of the operating system).

You have a serious attitude problem and need to build a bridge and get over it. She's a newbie and probably overwhelmed, not knowing enough to know where to post. What's needed is help, not a putdown. A kind suggestion to repost in the appropriate forum would be much more effective than your harsh reply.

Vivian, you might try reposting your question in the Hardware 7 Devices forum. You will probably have better luck getting help there.

Clearly you've misunderstood what the chill out room is all about. It's a place to vent and talk about anything... to "chill". And we're on the subject of things that make us mad, when suddenly a perfect example is thrown into the fray. If someone can use a computer and visit a forum, they can navigate it to ask questions in the sub forum that makes sense. Clearly the person didn't bother to read the start of the thread to know what it was about.
