Solved "This file does not have a program associated with it..."

I never had this problem before, I can't open any folders and whenever I try, I get an error that says "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."

I'm not very experienced in computers... so please explain the solution to me as simple as possible.

Hello Twinkle, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Download and merge the Directory and Folder options in the tutorial below. It will restore the default associations for them and hopefully allow you to be able to open folders again after the restart.

Hello Binita, and welcome to Seven Forums.

In that case, you could also do a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before you had this issue to hopefully sort it for you.

thankx it does work.
But whenever i update windows i face this problem, and i hate restoring my system again and again. i want a permanent solution.
