As soon as my son boots his Windows 7 64-bit PC, he get a full screen window on the Desktop saying "This program cannot display the webpage". I tried to open Task Manager, but it closes immediately.

Any ideas?

Hi Nigel :)

Boot into http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html , and run the computer in safe mode.

In safe mode, Click on the start button, type "msconfig" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu and click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.

Click on the "Startup" tab, and uncheck everything other than the antivirus program , apply, ok, and restart the machine normally.

Let us know if it is still coming.

I had this issue yesterday and installed "Malwarebytes". It found a couple of files and deleted them and its all OK now. I managed to do this from another Windows profile.

I also noticed that the .exe it deleted was also in the startup list. I found that in using "Startup Delayer", which is a great free app.

I got rid of this using MSConfig, but it came back today. This is the screenshot, see the files on the last two lines:

Any ideas where they come from?

I don't believe you could get rid of it using MSConfig...only prevent it from starting. But my understanding is MSConfig is only designed to be used temporarily.

Install "Startup Delayer" and get rid of them for good.

I seem to remember getting them from a lyrics website. Most of those are horrid sites so I won't be visiting any again.

No one here could say where yours came from. But avoid sites with heavy advertising, especially pop-ups.
