I've read many posts relating to this problem and nothing seems to work. I bought my machine "used" from a former co-worker whom I can no longer get in contact with. I have no idea if he installed a genuine copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64. It's been fine for approx. 4 years but now gives me the "This copy of Windows may not be genuine" message. Below is a copy of the MGADiag report. If the copy of Windows is not genuine, at least I know what the next step is. Thank you in advance for checking.

The installation is counterfeit.
You have an ACER Product Key installed onto an HP machine built apparently for Vista.
You need to reformat and reinstall using legitimate media and Key.

It takes a few weeks to learn :)
In detail, the Key is the OEM_SLP Key for an Acer Computer - which is only valid on the computer on which it originally shipped, and which has to re-activate on every boot.
Your machine is an HP, which has a BIOS dated Sept 2009 - about a month after Windows 7 launched - but the SLIC table in the BIOS shows that the machine originally shipped with Vista as the operating System.

There should be a COA sticker on the case of the machine - for Vista (probably Home Premium). You can either order a set of Recovery disks from HP, or if the COA sticker Key is legible, you can reinstall from any retail Vista disk

In either case, back up your data first - it will require a clean install, wiping at least the C: drive completely.
