Black screen suddenly shows up with Build 7601 error. System page states not genuine, and when try to update by phone it only given a number that does not work (971....), blanking out all countries. When try to input my activation key, message states: "Activation server blocked COA".

Tried removing KB971033 and CMD- Slmgr -rearm, but now screen still black without "not genuine" in lower right bottom corner. Also cannot see Windows update history.

why don't you use lenovo slp? That machine must have the slic table for it. if you can't read the coa sticker, you could use this

Hi

you have a couple of problems here....

the worst is that the key in use is not a true Retail product key. Its an MSDN, they were sold to Developers and Testers with the proviso that they were not allowed to be resold.
Unfortunately they were and sold on the web multiple times, and this appears to be the case here, and once a specific number is reached MS blocks it.

As SIW2 said there is also a problem with your Licencing store, allthough the slic table appears to be present

No recent install.
I did buy this from a online legitimate retailer (where else can you get a 7 key?). Spoke to MSFT, and told me since it is second hand, cannot activate more than once.

My used laptop came with a 7Pro already installed and I installed a new 7Pro having the English language. I thought this would automatically be recognized by the bios, but no-go and had to buy a COA license, which worked for over a year.

Strange how MSFT was able to shut this down as all my windows updates are off (??).

If you used online activation, it will check online occasionally with the activation servers.

If you are unable to run a .cmd file as admin, you could have other problems. Did you unblock the zip file before extracting it? Rt click the .zip file >properties>unblock>apply>ok. Then extract the .zip file. In the extracted folder rt click and run as admin on the .cmd file

Hooray at first as I was able to run CMD as admin and it stated successfully installed; "system" had the genuine logo. But....in trying to change the black desktop, could not do it, it reverted back to black.
Now, the "system" states "status and product i.d.not available.

Update: changed the screen background color, but not able to use pictures, custom, etc. Windows is active again with a product i.d. #. Did 2 SFC scannow without faults.

(Another COA just arrived, am tempted to try it--wait until this one is resolved one way or another)

slp is the best way to do it, that is exactly what lenovo do.

reboot and give it a minute to settle in.

If you continue to have difficulties, there is something else wrong , corruption of some kind, and it wont be solved by fooling around with coa keys.


To fix other issues the simplest way might a fresh install. Back up drivers to a folder somewhere that be accessed .e.g. a usb stick. download simplix update pack ( about 800mb ) https://update7.simplix.info/UpdatePack7R2+.exe and the net framework4.8 .wa file net-framework-48-for-windows-7 onto somwhere you access. Install win 7 from official ms media - skip entering a key. After reaching the desktop run slp to activate offline. Then browse from device manager to the backed up drivers. Then run simplix for the updates which will also install the net framework 4.8 .wa file for you.

I use dism++ for backing up drivers , among other things. Double driver still seems to work , but it doesn't have the extra functions of dism++.

Did you purchase the product key off of eBay? Back in 2009 there was this thing where a bunch of sellers sold counterfeit copies of windows 7 and they used a developers key, Microsoft blocked the product key 3 months later.

Even today I still see counterfeit Windows 7’s on eBay, but not that much.

Concerning the "not genuine windows" message, when it IS a genuine windows, but former microsoft (as i will call them due to the sheer amount of thievery they have perpetuated,) seems to insert trojans, basically discouraging that consumer and putting up roadblocks to updates, as in this thread (I went through the black screen bs yesterday on an HP pro 430g I have, that is a little beast of a notebook- it tells me I have 29.7gb of ram or something like that, I have severely tweaked what I can in MY systems, that I purchased, legal copies of windows (one was my boys, this dell, he gave it to me, one hp i purchased off craigs list, and the hp pro i bought from a friend, but all are legal copies of windows, i believe I registered all in my name, but these are legit computers,) OR they send you a "you may be a victim of piracy" pop up...and I'm looking at it, thinking, "the only ones who committed piracy seems to be them. I've been reading about Gary Kildall, and all I can say is former microsoft is who needs massive deprecation, as they have taken so many applications and products, under the guise of "published" by, and once they deprecate....i've told friends, "we don't buy a new car only to be told a few years later that we have to purchase another one, becasue they no longer support having an engine, but for the computers, and I understand if it was 40 years ago, but this is not then, they tell us that we need to get a new os and basically trash these perfectly functional computers because they won't support them..."

As part of the justice department deal, former microsoft is NOT supposed to restrict access to Windows. Windows doesn't even belong to them, and never has. Technology has caught up and the artificial intelligence is right on its tail, soon to be at the forefront, helping creators get something besides nothing, and doing things like not allowing fraud to be perpetrated, in all kinds of industry.

I have done some extremely nutty things on my computers, no hacking, mostly just creating new folders, names, changing reading order, messing with command prompt, messing with MY "network" connection I pay for, but in 2020/21, amidst all kinds of other chaos, I got disconnected at the century link panel, which is something new, and I was using my mobile devices for six months before getting back online, and I'm the guy who gets on my mobile phone and long presses "add network" and make a network with no security, named, "add network," and then drive all over or make attempts to make sure something recognizes it. I've messed with MY ip address, my access point, settings all over the place and I have been online, using the internet, almost since day one it went public. I have protocols, developer tools of all kinds, a fully restored windows media player with all it's defaults (some windows game, I absolutey crushed it in) I've created new all kinds of things and the story I have is insane...I don't advocate hacking, and lately am almost positive that much of what we see now as malware and such, is actuall AI, running either a masterful defense or embarking on a quest to identify, and track down origins and creators and information, basically.

I am absolutely convinced that the last "secure" portions of the DNS and root servers were compromised on Jan 6, (9 of the original root servers are in the USA,) as I have seen some crazy things online over the past 5 or so years, with most happening after 2017 roughly-- All my life, it has been the Emergency broadcast system, for example...when did it become the Emergency Alert System? (I'm in the USA,) but in April of 2018 or 2019, trump sent out a message on the Emergency Broadcast System, "by accident" allegedly, I apparently am a root authority with all kinds of abilities, and have some major issues with things like "class identification" (clsid) and words like "sub" anything, and have access to map layers, and ...it is nuts. I sincerely hope this post doesn't already get me banned, but the point I'm trying to make is, "your computer, your operating system. Your phone, your operating system. Your device, your usage." I fiddle with every setting...I have a series of 44 screenshots I took off my Coolpad Suva mobile phone, that show how I absolutely danced all in and around the android operating system, and again, I'm not doing anythihng criminal to my knowledge, but I also live in the USA, where I have somewhat more freedom than other places, and/or technology for stuff...i've been around it for a long time-- I'm not a coder, I'm not a programmer, I've come to be quite a deconstructor and this dell i'm on, has 194 files, 47 directories, the tree is about 20 feet long, my command prompt window is insane, I've created stuff that loads, like, "system32, 5 system32," and my current favorite, "windows 42" which I got a few months ago, when I downloaded (right click save target as, I think I was using a netscape navigator I fiddled with- back in 1994, December 31, 5pm, I saved a song file I had written as a "Windows Media File .cda" that i had recorded and burned a copy of, using winamp, sound recorder, and photo viewer, thus creating a codec and all kinds of crazy things that only recently just kinda ...came back to me--and I have a very old and long and, at this point, for verification and such, I'd have to say it's pretty cemented and that is NOT a challenge, but i was sitting at my laptop one day, that wasn't connected, allegedly, (these things are always connected, I even have a bios over tcpip or something or other, active as a connection, and a window popped up, that literally said, and I think I took a picture, "You have all the protocols!" and what i was looking at was the media protocols and yeah..I seem to have all the protocols..all irq...all access to all kinds of things and former microsoft is not happy... I found my entire system in the trash can, where I left it, renamed all kinds of things, copied this, copied that, duplicated that, changed the icons on that, renamed this and that...) I've saved all kinds of complete webpages, but saving the entire microsoft default keystore is a good one, i think...

They are not supposed to restrict access to windows; my seven and 8.1 stuff works just fine, and I literally have two computers right now,with extremely barebones former "microsoft" stuff in them, that i can see, and I work actively to try to eliminate as much of that as I can-- without deleting files, more like...allowing the stuff microsoft took over to take back over--I have flash and I'm wanting to install it and really start meddling with it, 1. because deprecating flash will prove to be one of the dumbest damn things they have ever done, 2.
