I have been having trouble with the RAM, I have four sticks of 2Gb. I removed two sticks and ran Memtest86 three times with no problems and then removed the other two sticks and put in the two sticks I took out originally.
On powering up I got three beeps so I took them out and put the other two back in and still bleeping. I did not earth myself when removing them.
Have I zapped the RAM or could it be another problem?
My motherboard is an Asrock H55.

Try a new set off RAM As this maybe a faulty part

If it still happens then I would look into a Bad Mobo

How old is your Motherboard?

If it's AMI 3 short mean Base 64K RAM Failure.
Try a different slot (only 1 Stick at a time so you can determin if it's the board or the RAM

The computer is about 6 months old, I bought it off ebay so it could cost me more to send it back than to do it myself.

I had a very similar situation a month ago.
I popped out the MB battery to reset my CMOS (which contains the BIOS), wait a minute and put it back.
If you have a reset button on your board, you should use that for the same purpose.
Taking out the battery will cause your computer to forget the time, so will have to set it later.

Check the ram speeds in the bios,...the setting should be 1333 or auto, even if the ram is faster...resetting the bios by removing the battery also sets the board back to auto...

If I remove the battery and reset the CMOS if I still get the beeps will it make things worse?

Removing the battery hasn't done anything. Should the motherboard still beep with no RAM?

So if I have defective RAM from not earthing myself when removing and reinstalling it, it would still beep I presume?

Insert 1 Stick of RAM Into the Motherboard - If it still beeps then yes you may have defective RAM

Do not worry hugely about the Earthing Process as there is only a minimal chance of Causing any real damadge to the Hardware
