Three monitors on the Apollo AP-HD4850

Good afternoon,

I bought an Apollo AP-HD4850 which comes with twin DVI ports and an HDMI port in the hopes of having my two monitors and my projector running as three separate displays. But, when I go into 'Screen Resolution' in W7 and try to set things up, it won't let me extend onto all three. To make matters worse, the only option it gives me, "Duplicate desktop on (x) and (y)", won't work - I get a popup "Unable to save display changes" no matter what combination I try.

Can anyone offer any assistance?
Thanks!
Mike

The second DVI port and the HDMI port probably both share the output, meaning only 2 devices can be working at any given time.

This is only a guess of mine, and not a fact although I have read something similar about how ATI cards work.

You should try messing around with the Catalyst Control Center to see if you could figure somethin out with that.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Catalyst control center... looks like I have some googling to do as I don't have that installed.

It's part of the driver install package from ATI's (AMD) site. You could also install it separately with the stand-alone installer, found in the components section.

I guess only two at the same time - once I change over to one monitor + projector, the HDMI shows up in CCC. Just can't get all three to show up. Oh well

Does your motherboard have onboard video? Sometimes you can not enable that when a PCI-E video card is in use, depending on the motherboard. If you can, possibly you can use that to drive the second DVI monitor instead. Then you could have all 3 working at the same time.
