I know Windows 7 comes with thumbnail preview like Windows Vista, but since I installed it it's only given the names of the open programs when I scroll over it versus the thumbnail photo. I didn't change any of these settings and I researched on how to change it. Most say to search "GPEdit.msc" and then go through a series of steps. When it opens, it says this:

How can I change this...?

pal that's a really small pic ... can't read it :(

*edit .... :) I see you've fixed it

What ver of Win7 do you have ?

I know that with Vista neither of the Home versions (Basic or premium) included the MMC snapins like GPEDIT or SecPol. But I'm not sure about Win7

May be a dumb question, but Aero is enabled, right?

From what I see, yes it is. It is also faded, which I am unsure why...

Are you sure you aren't operating under a user-restricted account? It looks like you are, judging by the greyed out options and the fact that gpedit can't create the snap-in necessary (which requires admin rights).

My mother just ran a troubleshooting scan on Aero, and this is what she got.

So thanks for your help, I guess. Maybe my video card will come out with a compatible driver.

What graphics card are you using, and have you checked the manufacturer website for updated drivers?

It doesn't appear that HP supports drivers for that notebook for Win7. So, it looks like you'll have to try and install the latest Vista drivers, possibly in compatibility mode and see if those work.
