Well, my PC's hard drive is completely shot. (1 long beep then 1 short beep,)
Since I'm graduating college soon I figure I'll give myself an early graduation gift. So here I am, going to build a new PC rig.
============================================
Type of PC: Well, I will use it for gaming. But I mainly play minecraft.
I also like to do rendering with sony vegas, etc. possibly some minor 3D work.
============================================

First off, I have a 550W PSU already, So I can reuse that,
I also have a DVD drive
In addition, I have Three 4GB AXIOM Ram sticks, I think Axiom is dell, so I am not 100% if they can be reuseable... I'd prefer if they were to save money.
Lastly, I have a GX 220 Graphics card with 1 GB of memory, I know, it's slow and cheap but I will use it for now and upgrade later once I have more money.
********************************************
So this is what I need-
-Possibly new RAM
-CPU
-MOBO
-Case
-Hard drive

....................................................................................
So let's start here:
------------------
$ - under 250
CPU-
I was thinking about getting an intel i5 here's the one I was looking at: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007SZ0E1K...UTF8&colid=IH1KWFYW1LH9&coliid=I378MTU9YSRCF1

Would this be the best bang for my buck?

I'd consider AMD, but I have always been an Intel guy.
..................
$ - under 120
Case-
I like Black and red, and I've always wanted a window, so I really like this. Also I wanted it rather large so I could work on it if need be, so ATX form factor is preferred:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GSIKX4Q...UTF8&colid=IH1KWFYW1LH9&coliid=I1F4C5ZJ7DOE6N

..................

Hard drive-
$ - under 120
I've done a bit of research on this, and I think I am in favor of getting a hybrid hard drive, I think it would be interesting, only back fire to that though is that most hybrid drives are at 5400 RPMs which is kind of unacceptable, so I may just go for a different one.. 1 TB is pretty much a MUST for this.

..................

Motherboard-
$ - under 160
I guess I'm more interested in an ATX intel mobo 1155.
I would want it to be able to support 64 GB of RAM. (not that I plan for that much, but you never know.)
I'd prefer having cross fire. so 2 PCI slots are definitely preferred.

-------------------------------

So I would like to stick as close to $600, but I could go up to 700 if need be...

Thanks for the help guys. :)

You'll likely need a new Windows license unless your current license is a retail version. If you have an "OEM" license, the change of motherboards is likely to cause activation problems.

If you have overclocking intentions, get a "K" series Intel CPU; if not, there is no reason to get a "K", which can save you a few bucks.

I am a student so I can get windows 7 pro for like $40.

Although I am considering running Linux.

I have no interest in overclocking.

If I didn't want to overclock, I'd get a socket 1150 motherboard (Asus, Asrock, or Gigabyte) with an H87 chipset, an Intel i-5 4000 series processor without the K suffix, 8 GB of DDR3 1.5 volt 1600 speed RAM. And an SSD if it fit into the budget. Look at Microcenter, Amazon, or Newegg in those categories.

I'd probably avoid socket 1155 motherboards and Intel 3000 series processors unless I got a major bargain.

I'd try to avoid a hybrid drive.

Here's a sample idea from Newegg:

CPU Intel i-5 4570; 200 (160 plus tax at Cambridge Microcenter).

Motherboard: Asrock Fatal1ty H87 (108) or Gigabyte GA-H87-D3H (109)

RAM: 8 GB of GSkill or Crucial; about 75

Hard drive: Western Digital 1 TB 7200 RPM Blue (60)

Case: up to 120, your choice

That's 564; less if you buy the CPU at Cambridge Microcenter

I'd add an SSD of 120 GB for Windows and applications. Possibilities are Crucial M500 for 77 or Samsung 840 EVO for 90.

Hate to see anyone spend 600 or 700 on a PC and not get an SSD in there somehow.
