Hi,

The time on my win 7 x64 ultimate is incorrect. I am in the uk so am on London time. We have recently entered Daylight Saving Time. So the clock should have gone back one hour but it appears to have gone back two! A week ago the time of day now would have been 00:20, the time now should be 23:20 and the time my clock is showing is 22:20.

I have looked in control panel > Clock Language Region - and my time zone is set correctly to UTC Dublin Edinburgh Lisbon London as it should be. I try unticking adjust for daylight saving time and click apply but this doesn't even change the time( not even by one hour as it should) it seems to not matter whether it is ticked or unticked, my clock remains an hour behind what the current time actually should be.

Any Ideas on how to fix this?

Mine did this too. I just changed the time manually.

Sure that is possible but it is hardly a satisfactory fix. Every time zone appears to be an hour out. To me that is a pretty major bug and fundamental flaw. It's quite disappointing to see a bug with something as fundamental as the clock. So really I would like to see a proper fix for this bug so that it is resolved fully.

Edit - I just found this article on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Microsoft_Windows

It has a paragraph about Windows clock and how it has no knowledge of if another instance of windows has altered the clock. Since I also have a copy of Win 8 Developer Preview on my machine I believe this is possibly the cause of the problem, both of my OS have altered the clock and neither has knowledge of the other making changes.

oprez - can I ask do you also have two OS installed?

Kind of. I had Windows XP mode installed at the time. It certainly ties in with what you're saying.

The info on Wikipedia suggests that it was fixed by Windows Vista SP2 , Windows 7 (RC) and Windows Server 2008 R2 (Beta). So I am guessing in my instance it is Win 8 Developer Preview that has caused the problem.

Try checking Windows Update for optional updates - I think there were one or two throughout this year that updated Windows with the correct information about timezones and daylight saving schedules.
See if that solves your issue...
