If you are reading this it seems that the weird title got your attention, thanks.

I have an HP Pavilion g6 laptop and wish to change the use of one key, the colon/semi-colon key, (" : ; ").

What I want to do is to just swap the way the key is used, at the moment it is as normal, one press ' ; ' or shift+press ' : ' I'd like to do a complete reversal to, one press ' : ' and ' ; '

I used to do this many years ago using DoS, but now can't remember how or even if it is possible using Windows 7.

I would be grateful for any help.

John

1. Download and install Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator 1.4.

If any problems occur run it in Vista/XP compatibility mode.

2. When you started program, File - Load existing keyboard. Select your layout. English can be found by country name.

3.When your layout showed up in main window, click on ; button on the screen. In popup window change it to :

4. Now tick SHIFT option on the left side of the window. It will show you layout when shift key is pressed. Change : into ; accordingly.

5.Click Project menu - Test. After successful testing - Project - Build DLL and Setup Package. After building is finished it will show you folder with Setup file. Run it. New layout is installed!!! You still need to delete old ones in Control Panel - Region and language - Keyboards and languages - Change keyboards.
