Today we held a Computer build and give-a-way for six worthy future techs. 32 essays were submitted and gone through, the six picked had to write about why they wanted to learn how to build a computer. They also submitted pictures of what they would like to see on the wrap for the tower. Many great sponsors made this happen and I truly enjoyed teaching them why a computer works and how to put it together. I hope the photos show the concentration of these great kids as they work hard to grasp some of the ideas and tasks.

Cool pics. Its guys like you that assisted me getting into this field. I had a teacher for my tech school that was the best I had ever had as a teacher. He encouraged me and always let me learn my own way.

There was indeed 1 instance of smoke. However it wasn't from what the boy did. Turned out the mobo was doa. I checked his work twice as I replaced the board so it was just one of those things
Luckily I had a replacement and will RMA the board. I get them through Winston Group and have never had an RMA Issue so I know it will be fine. I build an average of 4 of these a week for the last 7 years and this was only the second one to fail. MSI might be inexpensive but they are pretty reliable. I have not had a single unit return in or out of warranty in that 7 years so I am pretty happy with them.

A little drama was good though because I was able to demonstrate what to do when things do indeed go wrong. Was a perfect day in all. Still on a bit of a high from it.

They did indeed enjoy themselves. The girl was up till 1am the night before too excited to sleep. She yawned most of the day lol. The youngest was a talker, Mile a minute but kept up with his older peers without issue other than needed a tiny bit of help seating the memory. All of them had to helped getting the proc fan seated but that's normal. I had to show my tech 3 different times before he got it.
