My own car is a 1995, and only 56,000 miles. My work vehicle a 2009 Honda Element, just turned 279,000...

I figure it will just die one day and strand me in some far off location, lol. My company replaces the Elements with Ford Transits. The techs who have them say they are gutless. The Element has good pickup, so I am in no hurry to get a new vehicle. A Guy

Well this was today when I did it yesterday but got myself a new portable hard drive, 1TB size, first thing I did was do a Macrium image.

I also did an upgrade on my Sky so I could get a free Sky+HD box. I've got to install it myself but was told it's just a matter of swopping over the cables from the old to the new box. I can't take advantage of the new box features as I've only got an old CRT television but wanted to get it while I could get one free then worry about being to afford a new telly.

The old TV has Scart connections, think it has 2 but without looking round the back not sure just how everything is connected at present on the old set-up.

I do know I once bought a 5 way Scart , the TV came back from a repair and I gave it to the repair men and don't ask me why but they couldn't make it work to connect everything they did manage it though.
Just hope I can when the new box arrives.

The new Box should have a Scart connection ... And if your using the old Box it is likely connected by Scart ...

The new boxes still have a scart but no analog tv out (to a tv channel) any more.

If I remember correctly, this is going back a few years, it does have a Scart cable connected to something but not sure what. The Sky+ box at present has the TV, Video recorder and DVD player attached and I'll need all those connected to the new box.

I'd only lose one connection if I got a TV with built in DVD. I've just been trawling Argos and Littlewoods looking at TV's and my heads spinning just don't know what I want, apart from a 40", I think.

I know the new Sky+HD box comes with built in Wi-Fi so does that mean I need a Smart TV.

Joan, the new box doesn't have the aerial pass through connector any more and only one scart so you can't pass through there either, if you get a new TV then you would connect the sky box with HDMI as it should be used, you don't need a smart tv, the wifi is so your new sky box can connect to the net and use thing like iplayer etc.

Thanks John, this will all have to wait till after Christmas before getting sorted out, although my darling daughter did inform me this morning that they got a new telly yesterday. A 32" from Sainsburys for about a £150.

Prices for moderate sized TVs have been coming down lately. Now that 3D has bombed they are moving on to the next big thing 4K.

Bought our household here a 50" Sharp LED special for holidays at Best Buy for $399. Great picture, features, fit and finish. What's the gimmick?

The ten year old $200 Sony Home Theater system (another favorite quality gift to give along w Cuisanart Grind N Brew) still sounds like planes are flying overhead, voices from all directions, dishes clatter around the room.

Anyone else think iPhone pics and vids only displaying sideways in Windows is some kind of lame standoff? Any workaround besides installing QT player?
