First Whataburger was served 66 years ago today

We at Houston BizFeed never need an excuse to eat a Whataburger.
So when we learned (thanks to our friends at MySA.com) that the first of these Texas culinary masterpieces was served 66 years ago Monday, we tossed our brown bag lunch and made new plans. After all, it'd be a shame to ignore an anniversary.
The chain had humble beginnings at a portable building in Corpus Christi, where on that first day, earnings totaled $50, the company says on its website. That's not too bad considering the burgers sold for 25 cents.

"Four days later they took $141.80 and sold 551 burgers. The word was out. Whataburger was a success," the Texas State Historical Association says in the restaurant's online history.
Today, the chain has 800 restaurants in 10 states and employs 35,000 people.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gene Wilder, the frizzy-haired actor who brought his deft comedic touch to such unforgettable roles as the neurotic accountant in "The Producers" and the mad scientist of "Young Frankenstein," has died. He was 83.
Wilder's nephew said Monday that the actor and writer died late Sunday at his home in Stamford, Connecticut, from complications from Alzheimer's disease.

Jordan Walker-Pearlman said in a statement that Wilder was diagnosed with the disease three years ago, but kept the condition private so as not to disappoint fans.
"He simply couldn't bear the idea of one less smile in the world," Walker-Pearlman said.
Wilder started his acting career on the stage, but millions knew him from his work in the movies, especially his collaborations with Mel Brooks on "The Producers," ''Blazing Saddles" and "Young Frankenstein." The last film — with Wilder playing a California-born descendant of the mad scientist, insisting that his name is pronounced "Frahn-ken-SHTEEN" — was co-written by Brooks and Wilder.

I picked this up yesterday in my news feed. He lived to a good age and made some memorable films so he'll be remembered for a long time.

I'm a happy new printer person.

I print very little but when I want to print the damn ink is dried up and it won't print on
3 different printers. I solve the problem by giving away 3 ink jet printers and buying a Brother HL-L2320D Laser printer. They do offer printers with all the extra features if one wants or needs such things.

Nothing fancy. The Brother HL-L2320D has no toots and whistles; which I never used anyway on my printers that had all the stuff.

Easy to install, hook up and it's cheap. Hard wired only (usb cable not included) which is the way I prefer.
I do no WiFi on anything.
Prints quickly, quietly and with quality.

I have only test printed a few pages and the Brother printer did a great job. I'm impressed.

The reason I picked a Brother printer was because the computer place I do business with uses them to print thousands of pages with out any problems. Zero.

Yep that is one device on my list I have neglected to scratch off
That and another APC back up battery.

I tossed a noisy H-P all in one that was the largest piece of crap I've ever was silly enough to buy.
All I know is no more H-P printers of any kind.

I was leaning towards a cannon something.

I'm hoping that a laser jet instead of a ink jet will solve my problem with ink drying up.
Sometimes it's a month or longer between print jobs. Time will tell.

I have a Brother HL-2270DW. I wouldn't say it is particularly noisy but it isn't totally quiet either when printing. It was relatively low cost and performs well. A good thing is the drum and toner cartridge are separate units so you can have multiple toner replacements before needing to replace the drum. I use 3rd party compatible toner cartridges that are much cheaper than the genuine Brother cartridges.
