At office, if you are late to work thrice in a month, a day's salary is deducted. So it was my 1st time this month and its month end so it doesnt really matter.

You read in history books [here] about this type of thing happening....

When I started work in 1953 you were, "late for work", "ontime" or "early for work". The only one to aim for was the last option. That's the one that got you most points when it came to promotion. 30 seconds or 30 minutes still meant "Late for work". (And I was a union member)
