Geez! I hope not too! Sounds nasty... We used to drink Indian Tonic Water to combat malaria as some brands contain quinine which is similar to chloriquine.

I played around with Linux for a little while and the main thing I found to make things easier is to totally avoid the use of Grub

If you use the advanced install option you can ensure that the boot files are loaded onto the actual Linux partition, and leave the boot partition alone completely.

That's the best course of action - except for when one isn't paying attention during installation and forgets to do it

It is then a fairly simple task to use easyBCD to set-up the loading from within the Windows loader.

Yep, even if Grub overrides the MBR, EasyBCD can re-write the MBR and then you can add the Grub loader to the MBR.

But Suses's Loader does look kind of nice

Ubuntu 9.10 also has the WUBI option which sets up the Linux as a type of bootable VHD and thus also avoids Grub

Not a big fan of the WUBI install method. I personally prefer the native ext4 file system for speed vs a NTFS VHD. That's just my personal preference though. Plus wiping a sour distro install is as easy as wiping a partition. Not to mention satisfying

(however a little sprinkling of MBR repair can sometimes be a minor issue )

Hope you feel better soon Capt. Orpheous I have cans of Indian Tonic Water here and drink it to combat cramp, it has to the Indian Tonic Water as that has the quinine included, I use the Tesco brand variety, it's cheaper than paying for Schweppes.

Tonic water was actually invented in India as a way of providing quinine to the British to combat malaria, in an attempt to mask the bitter taste of the Tonic Gin was added. The often bitter taste of of a British Gin and Tonic is actually due to a reaction between the tonic and the slice of lemon. The lemon was only added during the second world war when the correct fruit - a wedge of Lime - was unavailable. Lime in a gin and tonic actually removes most of the bitter taste, but you can still leave the gin in

You're welcome Orpheous, before getting the tonic water I'd drink salt water to ease them especially if it was the middle of the night and I didn't have a banana, which are also good for cramps.

You don't really know much about the area then if you were only around for a few months

This morning I had a very unpleasant meeting with accountant. One of our biggest customers has filed for a bankruptcy Friday last week. At the moment it's not clear how much we are going to lose, but it's going to be a lot.

This is especially bad because of the business model we have. We are quite a small company making quite a big turnover by getting jobs basically too big to us and then buying resources to do the job from other companies. This means over two thirds of our turnover goes to pay other companies for doing our job.

It means we already paid a lot for another company to help us with this customer, and we have to pay for that. But the customer has not paid a cent since Q3/2009 and today we learned the guarantees we had from their bank are worthless.

Sorry, I'm just so pissed off I opened my office bottle an hour ago and am already over the legal limit, and don't want to go home to show my wife how the husband is drunk already before midday (it's 11:45AM here). So I'm just sitting in my office, door locked from inside, drinking and surfing.

Oh God how I hate Mondays!

We'll survive, that's not an issue. It's just that we lose so much.

I might have to fire one person. I have nothing against firing people when somebody really doesn't fit in to our group, or does not the work as expected, but it's not nice when the only reason is that we've lost a customer. Everybody we have now are hard working, nice guys and gals. It's going to be hard to decide who has to go.
