Hello,

this has been frustrating me since the day I updated to Windows 7. I got all the latest drivers for my computer and installed them all, but the track pad driver just wont install. I even left it running over night. I got it from several different locations off of google as well as from Toshiba's site.

I can use my tack pad but I can not scroll or set the shortcut keys at the corners. This isn't too urgent because I generally use a mouse, but its nice to have it for when I don't have one or am too lazy to connect one, or I simply can't use one due to space limitations (I use this mostly as school and next year I will also have a Wacom tablet which makes the use of a mouse on the tiny desk a little more complicated then in the past)

Any help that you can offer is much appreciated.

Is this the driver you tried form Toshiba Win7 32/64bit Synaptics Touch Pad Driver (V13.2.1.0:09/03/09 28.7mb ) 07/17/09 http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/...9253&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663 You could try on the Toshiba site and select Vista 64bit since it uses an Alps touchpad driver, it's possible that yours is an Alps not a Synaptics try the Vista 64bit driver using comaptibility mode http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html Only reason I can think of why the installation is hanging. Fabe

Thank you for your quick reply :D

I looked into what you said (went to Device Manager =P ) and sure enough, you were right, I do have an Alps Pointing-device. I also took your advice about downloading the Vista driver, but sadly it does not work. I used compatibility mode and the only thing it seems to have done was make the track pad more responsive, almost as if the mouse sensitivity was raised, only my regular mouse pointer moves at the same speed, so the change was in the track pad.

I also tried to update the driver via Device Manager only to be told I already have the newest version and its up-to-date.

I Googled a windows 7 specific version but couldn't really find a working link (cnet wasn't finding the file, and the rest seemed to be for Vista and not 7) I may try to look later after I get back from school, but any other advice would also be much appreciated.

Well you can go to device manager>properties>details tab>drop down menu>select hardware ID>Copy and Paste the hardware ID string and we can see if we can find a suitable Win7 64bit driver for it. Fabe

Well that's not going to help as it's a Generic Plug n Play mouse driver identifier. So we'll have to look eslewhere. Fabe

No need to look for anything anymore, I just got back and got on my computer, its works now :D

I don't know, maybe it just had to die.... doesn't mater, your first solution apparently solved it but for some reason just took some time. Thx a lot, you were a great help!
