I am new to this forum and apologise if this is a silly question (I have searched the forum already but not found the answer).

I have a new Samsung laptop which came with Windows 7 operating system. If I buy an HP 2310ti touchscreen monitor and connect it to the laptop will its touchscreen facility work or would it effectively just become a normal screen with the touchscreen functionality disabled?

(Just to clarify I am obviously not expecting it to suddenly convert the laptop sreen into touchscreen!?!?!?!?! I am just not sure if the touchscreen functionality on the external monitor will be available with my existing laptop.)

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would think it will work as a touch screen.
