Translucent Selection Rectangle

I disabled the translucent selection rectangle, but it only seems to change on the desktop. I don't want to see a big blue square, I just want to see the dotted lines. If I'm in an explorer window it remains as a blue translucent rectangle even though I have the option disabled. I want to disable the translucent selection rectangle completely, no matter what window im in, like it always did in the previous Windows operating systems.

Anyone know how to do this?

What method did you use to disable this for the desktop? I did not see a option to disable it in Windows 7 Folder Options like there was in Vista.

Its in Control Panel > System > Advanced > Advanced > Settings > Show Translucent Selection Rectangle

Thats where its been in xp/vista iono what ur talking about in the folder options.

The picture in the link u posted shows the right spot..

It only disables it on the desktop for me though..

LOL, not sure what I was talking about it being in Folder Options either.


When I unselect it Visual Effects, I get the same thing with it only working for the desktop and not in explorer. I guess it's a bug that we will need to send feedback to Microsoft about.
