Tray Icons - Some Help

Hi Grieg
I too am experiencing this same annoyance!
Have set both Outlook and Mail Icon to "Hide icon and notifications".
Have also switched off "Notifications" in the advanced properties of Outlook.
But still the icon is there in the system tray (after i press the arrow)
Have you made any further progress towards finding a solution?
cheers
paul

Hi Paul

No, i am no further forward with the Outlook annoyance. I have just learned to ignore it! I am fairly sure that i had some minor hack for it and have forgotton what I did. If it's not that then, God alone knows why it wasn't there..........then was.

I am about to move to a new version of Windows 7, as I am still using the RC, and I will have another brief look at it.

Voodoo,

Just to make sure I have this right, Outlook (what version) is not running and you have a tray icon showing?

Did the activeX fix the messenger when off? (BTW for the messenger icon to only show in systray it must run in Vista mode)

@ Zardoc
The system Tray Icon for outlook (2007) only appears when it's running. I occasionally have outlook on all the time when working at home. The tray icon was not there, or I removed it somehow, then it was there. Minor, but was annoying.
The messenger issue was solved with the Vista Compatability fix. Activex helper did solve the icon when messenger off.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't think that the Outlook Icon can't right out be removed from systray since this is more of a request than an annoyance to users. Some have made a batch file that will disable enveloppe notifications of new Emails..

Just a silly question, If the Icon is set to hidden as I have it because I leave Outlook in systray mode so when I click on it, it does not open another instance just rises the window.

In other words the icon is invisible so it doesn't bother me. In what way is it a pain?

Just so I really understand.

Thanks.

Morning:)

@Zardoc I laughed when I read your question. Just seemed so trivial, and it is! It was just annoying that it had appeared after not being there. It is possible that it was "broken" and then it got "unbroke" :D

I try and have as few icons there as possible, nothing more, just the way I like it. It's just the control freak in me I think lol :-)

I fully get you dude. I'm also the same. That's why I use CCleaner and use the start panel to disable unnecessary starts. So let's start the Windows Control Freaks Association.
