I've run the System file checker and that didn't find anything, I fully reset the windows update service to where it says I've never updated. I've tried the Readniss update tool and I'm repairing .Net now. Any suggestions? Whats the next step?

There's no evidence that either have been run.

..thats what i meant by System File Checker (SFC) and "I've tried the Readiness Update Tool" (System Update Readiness Tool, little dyslexia there) but here ya go.

I ran the Readiness Update Tool over the weekend and I guess it closed its self out. That was about the 5th time I ran it.

The CheckSUR reports are present in your screenshot - they aren't in your upload, which is identical to the earlier one.
Please copy the C:\Windows\Logs CBS folder to your desktop overwriting the existing one, then zip it and upload it

Hi Drip50291 and Noel.

I too have had the same problems as you have had, i too have tried all the suggestions to no avail.

It is curious that Windows updater will instal certain updates. eg MS Office, MS Defender and some others.

I have also noticed niggling problems with my windows installation

Control Panel buttons - don't work, i have to right click mouse to open context menu, from there i click open.

I see from the above that u require all kinds of info. Will comply with what you need, i am hoping though that i can just use the info that is provided to Drip. in order to fix my prob. if this doesn't work than i will post more precise problem info for you.

Danny

Hmmm - there's a few complications here...
You appear to have registry corruption which is calling for non-existent files, at least in two of the above cases.
Let me try and isolate the problem areas....

The following are non-existent files, called from corrupt registry entries
Code:

Danny,

From what I've seen on other posts (http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...error-codes-8007371b-800736b3-80070246-a.html, second page) this fix could be very specific. It sounds like you have some stuff going on that I do not ie Control Panel buttons. I'm still waiting on a suggestion from somebody on what to do here.. If I dont here back soon I'm gonna try another forum then get back to you Danny but for now we're hanging tight! Good luck to you brother!

*Edit* Just saw ur response Noel!
HA 2nd *Edit* I didn't even see the new page! PROGRESS!!

YAY!! Gotta love corrupt reg errors! Let me know what else there is and what I should do. My level of knowledge with the reg is slim to none compared to the experts but I can navigate through it and change values/delete and add entries!! :p

Not in this area you don't :)
I'm not sure I understand it well enough myself, as there are all sorts of interdependencies involved.

I'm going to need a file from you.

Please copy the file C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS to your desktop, then compress it, and upload the compressed file to a fileshare site (It'll be too big for here, probably) such as SkyDrive or DropBox - post a link, and I'll see what I can see.

The small file is actually the COMPONENTS.LOG file :)

I've uploaded the COMPONENTS file (zipped as d50aa.zip) to my SkyDrive at
Noel's SkyDrive

Please download and save it.

Now go to the C:\Windows\System32\config folder, and rename the COMPONENTS file (the 40MB one) to COMPLONENTS.OLD

Extract the COMPONENTS file from the downloaded zipfile and put that in the C:\Windows\System32\config folder

now reboot
Then run CheckSUR again, and then SFC /SCANNOW and post the new log files.
