Trouble with Installation

Couldn't find any help with this so here we go.Tried doing a clean install 3 times with windows 7 64bit. All three times I get through the firts reboot, get to the final step "Completing Installation" then after about 40 seconds I get a black screen. Then nothing happens and im forced to reboot my pc. Then I get to windows 7 logo, seting upetc then an error saying it can't complete installation and i should restart my pc. I do, does the same thing. Tried repairing found no problems. Tried 3 times, everytime it stops and goes to black screen while on that final step.Specs- 750i ftw evga mobogtx 260 core 216wd 500gb hd 3.16ghz core2 dou
any ideas?

Are you trying to upgrade over XP or setup a dual boot with 7 there?

When installing the 64bit release here on a separate drive by itself with no other drives plugged in it went on without problems. The 32bit release is presently in dual boot with XP on a second primary.

The betas apparently are not ready for upgrading over an existing installation of versions older then Vista if that's what you were trying there according to some at MS technet while someone made up a sticky here for going about seeing an upgrade. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1818-upgrade-install-windows-7-beta.html

Can you please fill in your system specs so we can help you better, it is located as a link at the bottom of your post, I have had similar issues and I have an SLI EVGA750i FTW and a GTX260 216core, does any of that sound familiar?

Try unplugging anything you may have. Usb devices etc, even your router, if you have one connected. If you are trying to run dual screens, that is also a source of that particular problem.

I believe this is a problem with the included display drivers that come with the OS, I have only had this problem since they first appeared after the 6801 Build and I have just installed the newest 32Bit 7022 build and they seem to have fixed this issue so that may be a good alternative for you at the moment.

I have been able to overcome this problems in 2 ways, first way it worked was after getting to the point of the blank screen where it failed I then restarted the install and the second time around I didn't format the partition and the old install files were left in a folder called windows.old and for some reason that allowed the second attempt to complete.

The second way I have had success was to change my GTX260 for my older 8600GT and that has also worked on a couple of occasions but is not a guaranteed solution.

I am glad I am not the only with this issue, it was driving me nuts, but at least they seem to have fixed it with the newer builds and I have heard that a new 64Bit build has been seen about, build 7032 so hopefully that will leak soon.

I had no problems at all seeing both the 32bit installed as a dual boot on one drive with XP and the 64bit release of the 7000 build on another drive as a stand alone. The problem here is no 64bit drivers for dsl! The old setup only went up to 32bit XP.

I was hoping to test the 64bit release along with the 32bit for a variery of things but simply have to left a temp install expire monthly or in so many days with no way to get online with it. Presently the 32bit release is set as the default version here and has performed well.

With 4gb of memory installed the over 2gb problem seen with Vista 64bit is not seen. If you have more then that amount installed or faulty memory that could be one reason for running into problems.

What speed did you burn the install disc at? Although there are a whole load of problems that can occur when installing the main thing to do is always burn at the lowest speed so you can be sure it's not the disc.
Also alot of people say that the disc is only needed during the copying files process but i have had probs with installs before and a new disc has fixed it.
In fact i had this problem with 6801 and 7000 when i was in a rush and burned at x8 on a x16 disc.
