Last year purchased Win7 from Best Buy and installed it in Laptop.
Has been working perfectly until a hard drive failure. Purchased a new WD500 HD.
Using G-Parted to create and then Format ntfs tried re-installing win7.
Normally I would see "press any key to continue DVD etc. and I don't see this.
Just goes directly to "Installing files" written across the bottom. Sometimes it just freezes after loading the files
and sometimes get to the Install screen, pressing enter and eventually getting to the blue screen.
Tried using different hard drives with all similar results.
I'm hoping someone has heard of this before and can offer a solution.

Best regards,

Dave...

Thanks Samuria, The procedure I used was to use Gparted and the drop down that says create a partition table.
This is suppose to remove everything from the hard drive leaving you with an unallocated hard drive.
Then right click on the HD and select New that creates a new single primary partition. Select Format ntfs.

Maybe download Windows 7, put it on a USB, and try installing that way? Using your product key of course to authorize, if you get that far. Could be that the DVD you have is corrupt.

Thank you, I successfully installed it on one of my other computers and the DVD worked fine.
I didn't realize Win7 is available to download to be able to put it on a USB.
