Trouble with WMP 12

On My PC!
The trouble starts when I place a CD-R disc in my drive, for some reason wmp likes to freeze up for a second when I try to switch to the burn tab, this is somewhat acceptable as I just figure its reading the drive to determine the disc type and all that jazz. However once the burn process reaches 99% it pops the disc out as if its done( and I have checked at least 6 discs after this burn process and they are complete) however once at this point in the burn process wmp freezes up completely and I have to go into the task manager to close it out. Another thing to note is that task manager says that wmp is "running" ( as in working fine ) and not "not responding" which I expected to see because of the freeze up. Any ideas? Computer is fully updated as of this posting and my system is more than capable of running wmp 12 at least 6 times over so something is amiss here with the program.

*edit* would also like to add that I cannot restart wmp 12 once I close it out using the task manager and the wmp12 process remains in the list of running process's even after I close it out and I cannot get rid of it unless I reboot the system.

So am I to assume that this problem has no solution because there hasn't been a single response to my post in an entire day?? Should I just abandon wmp12 and use a completely different program for listening and burning music cd's? I mean come on I find it hard to believe that not one of you has responded to my post...

I have tried a couple different kinds of cd-r disks. I recently performed a clean install of windows on my PC so I will give it another try later on today to see if I get the same results.

Alright, so I just tried to burn a cd the other day and it still does the same thing...stopping at 99% but spitting out the disc as if its done, the disc plays and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it at all but WMP still freezes up and I have to go into task manager to end the process to get it to stop running. This time around I can restart WMP after ending the process unlike before where I had to reboot before I could use it again. I wouldn't think it was the discs that I am using because they worked without issue on WMP 10 & 11 when I was using XP, but I could be wrong.
