Trying to copy data from old HDD - you don't have permission to access

Hello,
I am currently trying to copy dAta from an old HDD, the old desktop is giving me problems so I took out the hdd and connected to a newer desktop through a dock. The old desktop drive was running xp and had 5 users, all are mine. The new desktop can read the old hdd, when I try to copy the pics folder from one of the users it says that I don't have permission to access this folder. I am the owner of the user and I know the password but I don't know where to enter it to gain access.

I tried following the steps to take ownership of the folder and it opened, there was a subfolder but again required permission. The other files on the folder I tried copying them but it said I didn't have permission.

Did you get the utility that lets you right click and take ownership it is a ownership issue you may need to go to several folders on those folders even admin don't have rights by default

I am not familiar, I know when I clicked at the folder the message was prompted and I hit continue and tried to follow the steps, one thing I was not clear about though was that is asked me which profile I wanted to take ownership
1-Admin / my name
2-my name

I think I did for some folders the second one and it didnt work(I couldnt copy the files) and then for other folders I tried Admin/my name and it didnt work. So it seems it gives me permission on the folder, when I try to copy the file it doesnt allow me to.

yes I did, this is a new desktop.

Then goto the folder in explorer right click and choose the take ownership
