Hey guys,
I went back to vista because i had a problem during windows 7. It's all fixed now but i fell in love so much with windows 7 I cant stand vista anymore. The problem with that is I cant upgrade to windows 7229 because my windows update is getting errors on every "Update for Windows Vista (Kxxxxxx)". I tried all of windows fixes and tried installing service pack 1 manually and they all fail. The only reason i want to upgrade to windows 7 instead of clean install is that i'm under the influence that upgrading will keep my drivers in tact (correct me if i am wrong), which means my 5.1 surround sound and printer will work in windows 7. Dont tell me to upgrade to the RTM because i missed the deadline for the 50% off windows packages like an idiot and the RTM will only last for a few months, but the RC will last till June. lol
Any help greatly appreciated. If you need more info from me lemme know.

Welcome back. What ecactly do you want to do? you can upgrade from vista to 7100 or greater. You only want 7229? You might be surprised at how many more drivers are in 7600. Norton is still a PITA, but 7600 is pretty nice. so whats the call?

I think he wants to be able to last until March 2010 (June rebooting every 2 hours) with a beta / RC key. 7600 he can only rearm for 120 days. I would recommend 7232 over 7229.

However a clean install will be your best bet - you will not lose any compatibility, actually you may gain some. While I've upgraded successfully from one build to another, there's always some quirks that show up. If this is your last install for a while, which it sounds like, go with the clean install.

Exactly right DJG,
The only reason i'm not installing the 7600 RTM is cause i missed the windows discount and probably wont get the RTM of windows 7 till i get a new computer.
I did clean install 7229. I can live without my 5.1 surround sound working, but like anything I have 1 problem so far. I've configured everything back to my old windows 7 build but for some reason my Logitech 5500 Revolution bluetooth keyboard wont install with the "Add a Device" feature of windows. The keyboard worked in vista and last time i was running windows 7 so i dunno why its not installing. Bluetooth finds it and it says its installing but it sits at the install screen and does nothing. My Logitech mouse installed in seconds, but this keyboard is giving me a lot of trouble, any ideas?
