Trying to install Windows 7 on an Asus E200HA

So got this really lightweight machine, and was hoping to get windows 7 home premium (uefi ready) on it as windows 10 is just not for me. Unfortunately, after the installation it won't boot. So I tried windows 8.1, which installed well, but the keyboard and trackpad would not be recognized. So I reinstalled windows 10 (in which the trackpad also doesn't work until I install the chipset drivers) in order to copy the drivers by using {dism /online /export-driver /destination:E:\Drivers} command. in windows 8.1 it would not install the chipset driver - it would load the setup and then say that a restart is required in order to roll back the changes - which didn't help. So, Obviously, my first choice is windows 7. Is there a chance to get it to work? If not, is there a way to make the chipset drivers install on windows 8.1? It works much better with windows 8.1 but I have to use usb keyboard and mouse which is not very usefull on a small netbook.
Thanks so much for your precious time!

Samuel

Hi Mulic,
as its EUFI, follow this tutorial
UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Help Forums

Once installed you will be better off going to the makers sites for drivers, not Asus.

note the W10 product key will not be valid for W7, you will have to purchase one, likewise 8.1.

Roy

Thanks so much for your reply!
I followed this steps, only using rufus to create a bootable usb. It installs well but then, upon first boot, if will fail.
What do you mean by getting drivers from the "makers sites" and not asus. It is an Asus laptop.

Thanks again,

Samuel

Hi Milic,

Does it just go a blank screen or back to the Bios.
if it the Bios screen then the settings are incorrect
How many partitions are on it, are you dual booting???

As Asus does not provide W7 drivers for that lappy, you have no choice but to go direct to the manufactures sites ie Intel ect

Thanks Again.
It just goes to a black screen and then shows an error message. I will install it again and upload the exact error message. I'm not dual booting - Just one partition - 32GB eMMC.
When I Google "intel x5 z8350 drivers", i get to intel's website, but the only download I see is "Intel® Processor Identification Utility - Windows*".

This is the error screen I get:

I get it just after installation is finished upon restart. I tried to unplug my mouse and usb drive, but that didn't help. Any Idea?

Thanks again,

Check your BIOS settings.
- Disable Safe boot ( win 7 isn't compatible). It may be as OS=other or CSM
- Disable fast boot (may turn on after installation is running with all drivers installed)

Thanks! The bios in this laptop is quite minimalistic.
I did disable secure boot.
I disabled fast boot after installation, after the boot failed and I got the message above. Will it help if I disable fastboot before installation and install again?

Thanks again,

Samuel

I just don`t get why people keep doing this, they get a new PC with W10 and insist on putting an older system on it, once you customize W10 you will never know the difference.

You click Chrome it takes you to the internet, you click Internet Explorer it takes you to the internet, you click Wordpad it opens Wordpad etc etc etc..

The learning curve for W10 is a day at most. And also, it`s a laptop, you`ll get sick of using it after a month :(

And what do you mean it works better with W8.1 ? Better how ?

Well, in my market, along with many others', other than Chormebooks there's no netbook today that arrives without Windows 10. The price was right but windows 10 is really buggy on my machine, even with latest updates. The battery remaining won't show (Creator's update problem on many laptops), also, when I type-to-launch apps like chrome, facebook (non system apps), they just won't launch. (Another known problem). I thought about dual booting with linux, maybe it will solve my issue, which is Windows 7 not booting after installation as I mentioned.
P.S Windows 7\8 are much more stable, at least for me.

Thanks so much! I really wonder how the good old Winodws went to this state.
Is it a driver problem? (Both USB 2\3 jacks recognize my mouse\usb drive) Windows installs fine, until first restart where Windows' spinning Icon shows up for a second, gets stuck, and then I get this message:

I already disabled fast boot and secure boot.

Thanks again for your precious time.
