Trying to restore laptop..wouldn't boot this morning..

I tried the above remedies with no luck... So i did a clean install on another drive, keeping this one for data retrieval once i get my key programs reloaded.

Glad i did save the original drive as win7 insisted on all generic drivers. This saved a lot of time.

Thanks all for your efforts and expertise.
