Solved Turn off Safe Mode boot from Command Line?

I have a laptop from a friend who contactd Dell about an issue. The person at Dell told him to use msconfig to set safe mode minimal.

During further discussioin with the Dell rep, he told my friend he needed to do a factory restore. I've done that for my friend, not realizing he had set the flag for Safe Mode boot in MSConfig, and now the restore can't finish because it keeps trying to boot into safe mode.

Is there a way to turn this off in the command prompt. I can get to the Startup Tools of windows 7 with CTRL+F11.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated. I can also get into the system files with linux to edit if needed. I just don't know what to do.

I love you, you sir is the best, after using that DDU Uninstaller, my computer got in a boot loop stuck, after doing the proccedure that you mentioned, it recovered my boot completely, thank you honey.

I am SO happy to have found this thread, as I too got stuck when told to reboot Windows 10 into safe mode and it hung on reboot. This got me back into my system in a jiffy where I couldn't find anything else that was helpful. Thank you thank you thank you. Wish I'd found this first.

Good day. Please I realized customers can use my client machines if they boot from safe mode in dos display when the computer is booting. Please is it possible to disable boot from safe mode?Thanks

Just want to say thanks, even here in 2016 and on Windows 10 this saved me.
Was stuck on log in screen in safe mode and couldn't log in as forgot my password, couldn't connect to the internet to get my admin password updated to the resetted one...so thanks heaps kind stranger!

I want to say thank you to Saurabh A and perhaps this bit of updated info found in the thread can help keep helping future users!

I have been using a surface pro 4 for about 6 months. Everything has worked great; that is until I attempted to enter Safe Mode (hold down shift and restart) to troubleshoot a different computer. The machine would enter Safe Mode just fine, but I could not access any of my users! It turns out I created just a domain user and no local administrator! Because of this I could not exit safe mode, load the command prompt from the boot screen (requires admin), system restore (requires admin) or literally any of the native options.

Just to clarify, I am not a command prompt or registry guru at all. I think my strength is knowing that I don't really know all there is to know; so I am always cautious!

To work around this Safe Mode issue i simply created a rescue media in Acronis (which required a different computer).

Then booted to the USB by holding left shift and restart.

Started the command prompt from within the recovery.

Typed this command: BCEDIT /DELETEVALUE {DEFAULT} SAFEBOOT

VOILA!

I registered to say thanks, this worked great for me after getting into a safemode loop, msconfig would not run within safemode due to a runtime C++ error, this got me back on track

just for the record this worked on windows 10 64bit.

So I accidentally tried uping the refresh rate on my monitor to 100hz and i got stuck with no output to my monitor. Booted into safe mode using the "bcdedit /set {default} safeboot minimal" cmd and i was able to successfully boot windows and remove nividia control panel. Now when i remove safe boot check mark under msconfig it goes from normal boot to selective? How do i get it back to normal boot, with out the safeboot check box filling back in?
