There are two networks that I am able to access: guest and membership. Various sites owned by my employer will not allow me to access them if I am using guest. I know I can manually change the network but I would really appreciate it if my laptop would just automatically select the membership network.

Thanks in advance!

Click network icon at the "taskbar", click "Open network and Charing Center", then "Manage wireless networks", right click on "membership network" > "Properties", then check "connect automaticatlly when this network is in range".
Don't forget to uncheck "guest network" automatical connection.

Auto selection of the correct WiFi Network

A colleague of mine is using a software download called AirStop Wireless. It forces connection to the selected Wifi network -- Membership in your case -- and prevents unintended connection to other networks -- ie Guest. Good Luck!
