Hi, 64met.

You might want to try this Microsoft Fix it Solution: Solve a problem with Ask Toolbar

Thank u- no luck. This error message pops up every time I open IE! Now, all my favorites/ saved passed words, etc. even after re-entering my information and click remember me- I go back and am forced to enter the info. again??? This entire situation is very bizarre.

I wantb to thank everyone for their help.... I am new around here, so if I can give thxs and adds to your points please let me know. Just an update: In my manage add-ons for IE I see: Search Providers:
listed in this order:

Google> Enabled

Bing (default) Not available

i have gone into the various fields changing it and regardless of what I do: the net result is: I get the error message every time open IE! Blah, blah, blah search provider was changed....

Anyway, I am at a point now after system restore and anti virus among hours of everyones time on this issue: So, how can I just permanently delete the tool bar completely? Thanks again

When you install new software you should pay attention and not just click through the install because a lot of software asks you to install things like the ask toolbar and if your not paying attention it will get installed. Also don't do automatic installs. Always do the custom install. That is most likely how the ask toolbar ended up on your pc.
