"UNABLE TO CONNECT TO PROJECTOR , NO PROJECTOR WAS DETECTED"

guys , i just bought a dell xps 15 laptop and then i bought a HDMI cable , the laptop has a shortcut key f1 to connect to a projector like windows key+ p , first it connected real good...i watched movies and all the sound was also great , then due to a virus i had to reinstall windows 7 again i installed each and every driver from the driver cd that i got with the laptop , but now its not connecting to my panasonic viera lcd via hdmi cable , whenever i try to do it it says "UNABLE TO CONNECT TO PROJECTOR , NO PROJECTOR WAS DETECTED" i tried to lower the reolution also but still the same result....plz help me out...

On my laptop I press the fn key and then there's one of the f keys that switch from the laptop screen to the external monitor and then both as you toggle through. On my main computer, I'm having a problem with it not sending the signal to the monitor which is connected through an HDMI cable as well. I have to unplud the connector and plug it back in so that it detects the connection again. It works then, but I haven't figured out what's causing it yet.

I am trying to connect my HP Pavilion dv7-4177nr laptop to my Sharp projector using the standard vga connection....keep getting the "no signal detected" Have contacted HP and also Sharp...no real help given. Please help DL
