I got Windows 7 ultimate x64 installed on my laptop, on C partition. The laptop is HP and there are 2 default partitions installed by default and my unallocated space is 490 Gb.

The thing I want is to create new volume. But it said that there is no space, no matter I put 11Gb, 120Gb or maximum amount.

I described it in pictures on superuser, you can see the problem belo9w , but noone helps. Any of you guys?

Hello mpavlovic, and welcome to Seven Forums.

The problem is that the disk already has reached the limit of 4 primary partitions. That's what it's wanting to convert the disk to dynamic when you try to create a 5th primary partition. You do not want to convert the disk to be dynamic since it is the disk that Windows is installed on. Doing so would make Windows unbootable.

You could use METHOD TWO in the tutorial below to create a new logical partition with the 492.58 GB unallocated space though. You can use it just like a primary partition.

Hope this helps, :)

You must convert one of the extant Primary partitions to Logical in order to not break the 4 Primary limit. You can then add as many adjacent Logical sub-partitions as you wish.

With HP's in order to keep the Boot, Recovery and Diagnostics Tools partitions bootable, it's best to convert C to Logical to add adjacent Logical sub-partition(s).

To do this boot free Partition Wizard bootable CD, follow these video steps How to set partition as Logical with Partition Wizard. Then select the Unallocated space to create a Logical data partition using Partition Wizard Create Partition - Video Help
