With my previous PC, I could access pictures taken on my Sony Cybershot camera by putting the canera's memory card into an adapter and then into the PC's card reader. I've since built my own PC (same OS and the card reader from the old PC) but inserting the camera's memory card has no effect at all. It's as if the card reader is dead but it can't be as I'm happily using its USB slot for my wireless mouse.
If I connect the camera to the PC I get a little further – the PC can see the camera as a drive but insists there's no sub-folders or anything to import (which I know is not the case – I can see the pics on the camera).
I've tried all I can think of – USB2, USB3 / PTP, mass storage but to no avail. Can anyone suggest why A) nothing at all happens when I insert the card to the card reader and B) the PC sees the camera but not the content?
