Unable to run Windows update. Error 80073712

Hello,

I am working on a friends laptop and I am running into a wall. I am hoping someone here could possibly help me. To begin this is an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit. The issue I am having is that I cannot run Windows Update no matter what I try. Initially I was receiving error 80004005 when running Install Update, but after SURT the error changed to 80073712. Both errors directed me to the same solutions and nothing seems to work.

I had been looking for answers and found these forums which directed me to Windows Update Posting Instructions. I went through all the steps and am still experiencing the same error 80073712 when attempting Windows Update.
