Hello sfleury,

What was the full error message that you got?

Double check to make sure that you have the services below set properly:

  • Background Intelligent Transfer Service - enabled and started (Automatic (Delayed start))
  • Windows Backup - enabled and manual
Hope this helps for now, :)
Shawn

Thank you for your answer
I looked at the services and found (as I'm french I foun,d the equivalent
  • Windows Backup (Sauvegarde Windows) - enabled and manual
but did not find something that could be (or at least something that would mean)
  • Background Intelligent Transfer Service - enabled and started (Automatic (Delayed start))
Is that a "standard" service that should be always present or could it be missing sometimes ?
I use Windows 7 - 64 Bits

Thanks for your help Have a good day

I would agree with Wolfgang that it would be better to use a 3rd party program like Macrium Reflect or AOMEI Backupper.

Otherwise you may need to do a repair install to fix Windows Backup.

Thanks
As a "backup/restore" software, I use "Spotmau Power Suite" for several years
As a 3registry Cleaner", ,I use "Registry First Aid". In this software, when I try to "Create a restore point", I'm told that either the Backup service is not started is not started or that I have no administrator rights.
I checked and I am using an "administrator" account with administrator rights.
On the other end, I would like to know if there is a way to crate a Restore point i could use later, without having to boot from an external CD (like all backup tools - Spotmau, Easus, macrium, Active Disk ... seem to imply).
Is there a way to "save" only Registry and mandatory Windows files, ignoring all other folders and personal data (like programs and documents) ?
Thanks have a good day
