Unable to turn off Windows 7 Pro "shadow panes"

Been using Windows 7 Pro for years. Never had this problem until I got this new laptop. Whenever I move a window, these "shadow windows" appear. I disabled "show windows contents while dragging," but this apparently is a different problem. See pic. Does anyone know how to get rid of these "shadow windows"?

Try unchecking Show shadow under windows and see.

Perhaps there is a desktop manager working. You can go to MSCONFIG (Winkey-r, msconfig) and see what is autorunning on the Startup tab. Disable anything suspicious and reboot. Or click Diagnostic Boot on the Boot tab and see what that does, but that makes it tedious to return to the way the system was - unless everything was autorunning.

Unchecking "show shadow under windows" doesn't work. It's not a big deal, just annoying. For years, I've been running Windows 7 Pro on several laptops, and I've never seen this before. Are others getting these same "shadow panes"?

Are you talking about the blue boxes above your browser?

Yes. They seem to imply some type of selection option to govern how windows are displayed. I'd like to just get rid of them.

That is Dell's Premier color app doing that.

Here's the fix. Run the "Dell PremierColor" app. Click "Advanced" in the upper right. Then on the left panel, click "Display Splitter". Unckeck the "Display Splitter on" box.

Done!
