unable to upgrade to internet explorer 9 on windows 7 computer.

I am running windows 7 x64 on a core 2 quad. I can never seem to upgrade internet explorer 8 to 9. I keep receiving errors. I have deactivated all of the addons. My computer is completely up to date but for this one. I received error code:80246007 What should I do?

When you try to install updates from the Windows Update Web site or from the Microsoft Update Web site, you may receive a "0x80246007" error code
may apply - I think it still applies to Vista and Win7.

If none of the above works, try the System Update Readiness Tool, because this error often goes hand in hand with 0x800B0100 and is is that hidden error which needs to be fixed, not the one returned by Windows Update (this only applies after all the solutions for 0x80246007 itself have been exhausted)

It still won't update even after installing the system update readiness tool. I still get the "failure configuring windows update" after restarting the computer to complete the installation. Any other ideas?

Maybe you need to fix your Internet Explorer 8 program. Try Microsoft Fix it Solution Center: troubleshooting software issues to see if it finds any errors. You could also try the fix it tool on your Windows Updates.

Check for system file corruption by running http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html and post back. You may have to run it three times to fix all issues.
