Solved Unable to view encrypted emails in SENT folder - Outlook 2003/Exchange

Hello,

I am having a strange problem on a computer where the user is unable to view encrypted (via MS Exchange/Cert Authority) emails in her SENT folder. She can open encrypted emails in her INBOX normally.

I have checked her encryption certificate in Active Directory, Outlook, and IE. I have removed her key via IE and reinstalled it. I have reinstalled Office 2003.

When she attempts to open an encrypted message from her SENT folder, it asks for her password, BUT the password is not accepted. It's the same password she uses to open an encrypted message in the INBOX.

Outlook is up to date with patches and the back end is Exchange 2003. Outlook is not running in cached mode.

As a test, I had her send herself an encrypted email. She could open THAT email from her SENT folder, but only that email.

Is there a setting to clear her encryption key completely? I don't know where else to look as I've never had this issue come up before.

Hello... I just wanted to close this out by explaining the issue.

Our user had a CDC government certificate installed as the default certificate instead of the MS Exchange certificate for e-mail.
