Hello,
I have a thread in the hardware section, but I think my problem is more of a driver issue. I am running windows 7 x64 ultimate edition. My epson artisan 810 causes any program to hang when I try to print from it. It worked fine since march of 2010 when it and the computer were purchased. It has only been the last 6-7 weeks that the problem started. I have downloaded the newest drivers from epson's website (for win 7 x64), and tried both the network and usb instal several times. I have installed the printer successfully on another machine running windows xp sp2 and it worked fine.

The event log is showing a few printer related errors. I do not know how to post the event log here, but the errors include 808 and 215.

I would really appreciate any help

Thanks,
Justin

Have you tried Epson for support? Epson Artisan 800, Drivers & Downloads - Technical Support - Epson America, Inc.

Epson Artisan 800, News & Alerts - Technical Support - Epson America, Inc.

As you've tried more than once, check in Devices and Printers to see whether you have more than one Epson printer driver installed.

You might need to install with elevated privileges (right-click the installer and select Run As Administrator).

Are you connecting via wireless or USB. If USB, when do you connect the USB cable. If wireless, is the printer being detected correctly?

Go to Drivers and Printers and delete your Epson Printer.
Then disconnect your USB printer connection/shut down computer/restart and once your computer is up and running then plug in your printer.
Windows 7 will then find your printer and you should be ok by then.
Happened to me with my Canon MP830.

Yes I should have mentioned. I did trouble shoot with epson. They blame it on windows. I think I agree since it worked on an xp computer. I did completely remove the printer and its driver before each install and installed as administrator.

I have restarted the print spooler and configured the ports as well. Epson confirmed that those settings were correct and that I had installed the most current drivers.

Ok I have tried everything I know to try. Still after installing the newest drivers from epson, it says they werent properly installed. I have turned off the firewall before the install too.

Are there any other ideas? Could there be a registry issue here?

I'm just wondering whether it might be worth installing the drivers in Vista SP2 Compatibility Mode? If you do try it make sure the printer is disconnected and you uninstall the Windows 7 drivers first.

I think I found something worth while. I found a lot of people saying epson printers create an audit file that is huge and cause the slow print response. Everyone says to go to
program data/epson
and delete the file: EPAUDF01.AUD

Where is the program data file in windows 7?

You need to go into Windows Explorer>Organize>Folder & Search Options>View and select Show Hidden Files, Folders & Drives.

Program Data is listed under Program Files (x86) when you relaunch Windows Explorer.
