Unidentified Network, Windows 7

WRT54G is 1 of the best routers ever created by linksys by cisco. anyways power cycle is helpfull most of the time sir. it is the best solution. if it still happens then try by passing the switch which is present between the router and the windows 7 desktop computer.

chev65, you suggested that it is possible that Bonjour is running under a different task name. I have been unable to find any results on Google to what it might be listed under. I cannot locate any trace of Bonjour being active on my computer as stated in my previous post, so I am almost pretty sure that I have already uninstalled it. However, I will continue to look into this possibility.

streetglow, I have powercycled, renewed/released with no results.

It's just that the problem seems to be the same one that bonjour creates. So when I guessed that you had the Adobe suite installed that wasn't just a lucky guess it was an educated one derived from fixing this same problem countless times.

Adobe in their infinite wisdom, could have disguised the bonjour service under another name I don't know for sure but I do know that anything having to do with Adobe photo suite or iTunes has caused this same problem to occur "Unidentified Network" countless times on hundreds of thousands of machines. I usually refer to bonjour as sabotage. :sarc:

"Streetglow" Yes the WRT54G was a good router in it's time, made even better with recent firmware updates by tomato, DDwrt or even Linksys firmware although the functionality and performance of that router is now outdated by a long shot. There are now better faster routers with Gigabyte speeds on both the LAN and WAN not to mention 802.11 N which is 5X faster than 802.11 G.

A true power cycle for a Lynksys router would be to hold down the reset button for thirty seconds, unplug the router and continue holding reset down for another thirty seconds then plug back in still holding down the button for another thirty seconds.

Anyway, best as I can tell you aren't getting anything from the router according to your ipconfig /all. And because the problem seems to be confined to this one machine there is something on this machine blocking or preventing the connection from occuring. Viruses or malware can also cause these types of problems but I'm assuming you have ran some virus scans.

It works! I rebooted my computer just to play around with some hardware settings. After 5 minutes into my reboot my computer found the connection! WTF? I don't even know how that happened. Rebooted to make sure it was still working, and it does. Not sure what I did (I didn't uninstall Bonjour, because it was never installed to begin with, I think) to make it work but thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.
