uninstalling adobe reader

Hi,

I am having a little difficulty, i have removed adobe reader 9 & 10 to install adobe x, all is fine after a few trips with the install cant read reg keys and giving an error...

if anyone has this problem i used a small app call secres (which restore the default security to the registry) if u need it drop me a pm, anyways i digress..

now i cant remove the old adobe directories because of a cpl of dll's .. ive tried to delete them in safe mode, ive tried regsvr etc all to no avail, i just dont get access to them at all... its not a biggie but its annoying...

anyone any ideas ?

Welcome Thumper, Removing directories which have files/programs that are active is difficult but can be accomplished. Adobe has a couple of dll's that are loaded at startup time. If you have removed adobe via the installed programs removal process, then they could still be active.

One way would be to stop their process vial the manage option and services. you can stop the process and disable it. on reboot, it then would not be active and you should be able to delete it.

Normally the install of adobe x will remove the older adobe drivers and programs.

Outside of that, you can restart in safe mode and that SHOULD then allow you to remove the directories.

Hello there, Thumper!

You could use Revo Uninstaller to delete the program and its leftovers, i just did that 2 days ago (of course, with another piece of software) and it completely removed it i wouldn't say "manually delete the software" is the best way to go.

Try that and report back, please
