F5ing: Ditto on that. Can't see why Adobe would want your money to go anywhere other than Adobe.

Cross marketing.... you get folks to use our stuff and we'll get folks to use your stuff. They're in non-competing fields, so why not. If they can get on your system and you like their "freebie" you might become a paying customer.

I've seen machines with all kinds of crap on their desktop, and in their browsers. It just makes me wanna cry - "Why do you have all of this crap on here?" I ask, and they say "Don't touch it, I don't know if I need it"

Adobe is bundling Shockwave Player with Norton's security software

It's recently come to our attention that the installer for Adobe Shockwave Player is coming bundled with an optional installation of Norton Security Scan. The bundle was pointed out by Martin Brinkmann from gHacks and confimed by our Editor in Chief, Julio Franco, when he was prompted by Firefox's latest version to upgrade the Flash add-on. We tried to find an exact date on when this bundle started to take place and found scattered information dating back to 2010, so it’s highly likely that Security Scan has been bundled with the Adobe program for quite some time.

I understand the cross marketing strategy with the generally detrimental "freebies", but a trial for a full blown "pay for" version of NIS?

If I wasn't upset with Adobe before, well you can imagine how I'd feel now. Especially as the typical user never gets all the remnants removed after the "uninstall", at least not without some help.

I checked Norton, couldn't find the magic referenced in the article. A comment or two mentioned safe-mode. Seems like a shot.

I updated my previous post for a link to Norton Support with the same proceedure.

Hum well I have got rid of Snorton when it's got on board with mobos and the like and I have nearly always removed it before installing Kaspersky.

I've even used Revo and regedit to track the stuff down and delete it from there too. But I will agree that it is a termite of an app, I just wish they would stop bundling stuff like that.

My own pet hate one is the AVG search window.

'uninstalling Norton internet Security

Many many thanks for all the guidance and help given by all the experts.I finally downloaded the Norton_Removal_Tool and fully uninstalled the said software. I shall be careful in downloading any new softwares from the Internet.
