Welcome to Seven Forums: I just found the same thing researching the hardware Id string. I've never seen this as a mass storage device usually they are a Ricoh or Texas Instruments even conexant. If you have found an XP driver for it. Then try and install it in compatibility mode.Right click on the setup.exe file>click compatibility tab>check the box run in compatibility mode>select XP run> as Administrator. See if this installs and removes the yellow icon in device manager. I'm guessing that is where you found out you needed the driver. Please post back. Yet under your Viao they list a Texas instruments integrated FlashMedia Controller. With Vista drivers http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNBX665P&SelectOS=29 . Fabe

Well the SD card reader is a TI device and I did solved that one..
it is odd its seeing it as a SATA RAID device when this is a laptop

After not fiiguring oiut the issue I decided to slap back in the XP HDD and see what the Sil 3512 hardware was about

discovered its not a Raid controller, but a SATA Link Controller Chip used for the Laptop to access the Docking Station MultiBay unit.

Still trying to find a way to get a working driver for it... Ill try the Xp with compatibility mode I guess..

Hardware ID : PCI\VEN_1095&DEV_3512&SUBSYS_820B104D

cheers and Ill keep you all posted
