Hi:
I am now being plagued with another request for a password and I don't know what/who the source is.
When I now start my Desktop, before the BIOS takes over, a 'Black' screen comes up with a small Blue
and white Icon on it which asks me for a password. And if I don't give them what they want nothing
more happens. When I finally type in the password, the screen color changes which indicates that the
BIOS has finally been activated, and does its thing.
Does anybody know what the answer is and can give me some help in getting rid of this annoyance?

The fist software loaded by a computer it's BIOS. It defines how the hardware will work.
Most MB can have a PW in BIOS:
- A PW to enter BIOS.
- A PW to boot.

It seems you have a BIOS password set to boot.
Look your MB manual and enter BIOS to clean them.

I have successfully fixed that problem for some of my customers, who have forgotten their Bios Password,
and it's not all that hard.
First I remove the line power from the PC. Then I open up the case and locate the CMOS (Bios backup) battery and remove it.
I will leave it out of the PC motherboard for about a half hour. During that time I will check the battery voltage with my Digital Volt Meter. If the voltage is not at least 3.0v. I will just replace that battery with a new one, that does check out at over 3.0v.
Finally, after the half hour wait, I will plug in the PC to line power, boot it up and press whatever key will get you into the Bios. Reset the date and time and boot order, save the changes and exit out of the Bios.
The boot up password should be reset to "none" and you can boot into your OS normally.

Resetting a Windows password, can be a little trickier. :(

Good luck, and do let us know if you get it solved.
