Solved Unwanted Window at StartUp

Hi all!

Every time I start up Windows, this window opens up.

It doesn't hurt anything but it's damned annoying.

How do I stop this behavior?

Hello Richard,

Double check all the startup locations in the tutorial below to see if that folder may be listed or any unknown entry that may be it. If so, just delete it.

If not, then do step 4 in the tutorial below, delete the two desktop.ini files on your desktop, and do step 5 below. Afterwards, log off and log on to see if it still happens.

Couple of things to try:

1) Open msconfig and check startup entries. Uncheck anything you cant identify with a known program, reboot. Or post a screenshot here.

2) Run CCleaner regcleaner once, reboot.

OK, Bill2 & Shawn:

I did everything you guys said and it still rears its ugly head at boot time.
I was unable to find it in the registry, or msconfig, or CCLeaner- it's hiding real good.

I've just gotten an idea I'll try. If it works I'll let ya know. Otherwise, I've no clue at this point.

OK, I got it figured out an it's strange.

I just installed ShellFolderFix a couple of days ago.
It has an option to remember open folders from previous Windows sessions.
I unchecked it and the problem went away.

To my way of thinking it shouldn't have been a problem as I never had that window open when I shut down the computer.

Ah well- problem solved.
