update screwed up windows mail

I have been using windows mail with windows 7 pro since it first came out [windows 7, that is]. Did 2 updates last night and now my windows mail will not open. Double click the shortcut and nothing happens. Go to source and try to open and nothing happens.

Is there a fix here??? Thanks

Try a system restore to a point before the troubles. Install the update again, and hopefully the problem won't happen again.

If you want you can remove that update and then right click and hide it next time it wants to install it.

There's another fix...just grab the new updated msoe.dll, fully patched and reinstate your Windows Mail as you did the first time following this tutorial:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/5481-windows-mail.html

I had an interesting side effect from re installing the Vista 64 msoe.dll into my win 7 pro 64. My Kaspersky 2010 came up with a warning saying that some of its databases were corrupt. Re installed kaspersky and all OK again !

Seems it updated overnight and now I have the same problem again. Last time I just used system restore and it worked. I dont want to have to do this every day though.

Tried the "fix" listed in here and it doesnt work. I used it when I first got 7 and windows mail has worked fine for 8 months.

When I try to paste the msoe.dll into windows mail folder it says cannot continue because the folder or file is open in another program
